Bali Off the Beaten Path: Exploring the Hidden Gems and Secret Spots of the Island

Bali is a popular tourist destination that attracts millions of visitors every year. But beyond the crowded beaches and resorts, there are many hidden gems and secret spots that offer a different perspective of this beautiful island. Whether you are looking for adventure, culture, nature or tranquility, there is something for everyone in Bali off the beaten path. Here are some of the best places to explore in Bali that will make your trip unforgettable.

– Ubud by motorbike: Ubud is the cultural heart of Bali, but it can also be a busy and touristy place. To escape the crowds and discover the charms of this hillside city, rent a motorbike and explore the surrounding countryside. You will find stunning rice fields, forests, temples and villages along the way. You can also stop at some of the best local eateries, such as Cafe Lotus, which overlooks a beautiful lotus pond and the Pura Sarawati temple.

– Ayung River rafting: If you are looking for some adrenaline and fun, rafting along the Ayung River is a great option. The river runs for 6.8 miles and has some exciting rapids that will get your heart pounding. Along the way, you will also enjoy the views of the mystical rainforest and the shadowy gorges. This is a perfect activity for families or groups of friends who want to experience the natural beauty of Bali.

– Gianyar night market: For a taste of the authentic Balinese cuisine and culture, head to the Gianyar night market. This is where the locals go to enjoy a variety of dishes, from grilled seafood and chicken satay to fried noodles and sweet treats. The market is open from 5 pm to 11 pm and is a feast for the senses. You can also find some souvenirs and handicrafts at bargain prices.

– Lempuyang Temple: One of the most iconic and Instagram-worthy spots in Bali is the Lempuyang Temple, also known as the Gateway to Heaven. This temple is located on the slopes of Mount Lempuyang and offers a stunning view of Mount Agung, Bali’s highest volcano. To reach the temple, you will have to climb more than 1,700 steps, but the reward is worth it. The temple is also one of the oldest and most sacred in Bali, so make sure to dress respectfully and follow the rules.

– Amed fishing: Amed is a small fishing village on the east coast of Bali that has a laid-back and peaceful atmosphere. It is also a great place to go fishing with the locals and learn about their traditional methods and techniques. You can join a fishing boat early in the morning and catch some tuna, mackerel or snapper. You can also enjoy snorkeling or diving in the clear waters and see some colorful coral reefs and fish.

– Candidasa cycling: Candidasa is another quiet and charming village on the east coast of Bali that is ideal for relaxing and enjoying nature. One of the best ways to explore Candidasa is by cycling through its scenic roads and trails. You will pass by rice paddies, coconut plantations, temples and beaches. You can also visit some nearby attractions, such as the Tirta Gangga water palace, the Goa Lawah bat cave or the Tenganan traditional village.

– Sidemen dining: Sidemen is a hidden gem in Bali that offers a glimpse of the rural life and culture of the island. It is located in a valley surrounded by lush green hills and rice terraces. Sidemen is also known for its organic farming and cuisine, which you can experience by dining with the locals. You can join a cooking class or a farm tour and learn how to prepare some delicious Balinese dishes using fresh ingredients from the garden.

These are just some of the places that you can visit in Bali off the beaten path that will make your trip more memorable and unique. To make your travel easier and more comfortable, you can book a car service with Bali Car Driver, one of the best transportation & tour company in Bali. They offer customized private car charter or motorbike rental with professional drivers who can take you to any destination you want. Bali Car Driver Bali Car Driver and it was the best decision I ever made. They have a lot of options to choose from, such as full day tours, half day tours, combination tours and activities tours. I opted for the Ubud and Tanah Lot Sunset Tour and it was amazing. I got to see the monkey forest, the rice terraces, the temple on the sea and the beautiful sunset. The driver guide was very friendly, informative and flexible. He also took great photos of me along the way.

Superb service. We were fortunate to meet Bali Car Driver on line since we had 6 pax for the first trip in July 2002. Putu was our attentive driver, in formative and caring with exceptional English. We were with him for 4 days including our second trip in September 2022. We highly recommend Bali Car Driver as your transportation, your guide and your friend.

Simply Amazing We stayed in Bali for two weeks. We hired this service and Ketut was our driver for 10 of the 14 days. During that time we had booked tours with other companies. We were so disappointed that we didn’t book everything here. Our driver was on time (If not early), he spoke fluent English, and made suggestions as to where to buy stuff. It was a pleasure!! Ketut made us feel safe and any attraction we went to, he walked us to the attraction and made sure we got in without any hassles. We are so happy we used them!! 6 STARS!!
